Pacific Northwest links course on a former gravel quarry — site of the 2015 U.S. Open won by Jordan Spieth.

About the Course

Chambers Bay opened in 2007 on a reclaimed sand-and-gravel quarry overlooking Puget Sound near Tacoma, Washington. The fully walking-only course is treeless, sandy, and constantly windswept — a true links experience in America.

History

Pierce County, Washington commissioned Robert Trent Jones II to design the course, which opened in 2007 and was awarded a U.S. Open just one year later — the fastest a course has ever moved from grand opening to U.S. Open.

Signature Features

Single tree on the property (a lone fir behind the 15th green), fescue throughout, and dramatic Puget Sound views from elevated tees.

Notable Events & Championships

2015 U.S. Open (Jordan Spieth), 2010 U.S. Amateur, and the 2026 U.S. Amateur.
