Pete Dye's breakthrough resort design at Sea Pines on Hilton Head — home of the RBC Heritage and the iconic red-and-white lighthouse 18th.
About the Course
Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island opened in 1969. Pete Dye, with consultant Jack Nicklaus, designed a strategic course routed through Lowcountry oaks and marshland — a complete departure from the long, brutal courses of the era.
History
Charles Fraser of the Sea Pines Company hired Pete Dye and a young Jack Nicklaus in 1967 to design Harbour Town. The course opened in time for the 1969 Heritage Classic, which has been played every year since.
Signature Features
Tight tree-lined corridors, small greens, and the iconic par-4 18th finishing toward the red-and-white Harbour Town Lighthouse on Calibogue Sound.
Notable Events & Championships
RBC Heritage every April since 1969 — one of the longest continuous events on the PGA TOUR.
