San Francisco's historic championship course on the slopes of Lake Merced — host of five U.S. Opens.
About the Course
The Olympic Club Lake Course winds through cypress and eucalyptus trees on the western edge of San Francisco. The fairways famously slope opposite the natural hillsides, providing a unique optical and strategic challenge.
History
Sam Whiting designed the Lake Course in 1924 atop the original Wilfred Reid layout. Olympic was founded in 1860 as the oldest athletic club in the United States.
Signature Features
Sloped fairways that play opposite their visual line, towering cypress trees, and famously narrow corridors.
